Book Review: Lover Eternal by J.R Ward

Title: Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood #2 Series)
Author: J.R. Ward
Pages: 441
Publisher: Signet
ISBN: 0451218049

In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there’s a deadly turf war raging between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret bound of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Possessed by a deadly beast Rhage is the most dangerous of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

Within the brotherhood, Rhage is the vampire with the strongest appetites. He’s the best fighter, the quickest to act on his impulses, and the most voracious lover-for inside him burns ferocious curse cast by the Scribe Virgin. Owned by this dark side, Rhage fears the time when his inner dragon is unleashed, making him a danger to everyone around him.

Mary Luce, a survivor of many hardships is unwittingly thrown into the vampire world and reliant to Rhage’s protection. With a life-threatening curse of her own, Mary is not looking for love. She lost her faith in miracles years ago. But when Rhage’s intense animal attraction turns into something more emotional, he knows that he must make Mary his alone. And while their enemies close in, Mary fights desperately to gain life eternal with the one she loves.

This is the second installment in the BDB franchise and so far the series is on a roll. Love Eternal continues where Dark Lover left off. Well actually both books can stand alone but it’ll be more enjoyable if you start reading the first book. Similar to Dark Lover, this book is story focused on a particular brother and Dark Eternal is the story of Rhage and Mary. I won’t go on and on about what’s exciting and amazing about this because I’ll run out of adjectives – but final say is that the book is definitely recommended, time worth and money spent wisely.

Lover Eternal is both romantic and heart breaking – it is an emotional roller coaster ride and when you start reading the book, it’ll keep you sucked into a hole of emotions and actions until you finish the whole story (which happened to me – beware! You are warned). It is very erotic and graphic with both the sex scenes and the fighting so make sure that you are prepared to be sucked into the world of the Brothers. So far, I can definitely say that the series is starting to be addictive and I just can’t wait to read the next book! 🙂 Another 5 stars on my list.
